*Vacation Bible School Volunteer Meeting* This Wednesday, 5/8/19, at 6 pm at the Arc Center (old Faith Trinity UMC building) anyone who is interested and able is invited to gather with Pastor Jen and Adam Stevenson, along with other churches to talk about volunteering for Vacation Bible School this summer. Vacation Bible School will be June 9-13 in the evening. If you can’t make the meeting due to choir practice or other commitments but are still interested in volunteering, please let Pastor Jen know.

Central UMC's Wesley Ringers Bell Choir enjoyed the Dayton Bell Festival this past weekend! They rang with 450 other people in a large concert and attended several educational classes and break-out sessions. Interested in joining the Wesley Ringer Bell Choir? This event that is being provided for children and their families by Jacy House and Wayne County Kids First, is being hosted by our church here at Central this Saturday! We need two volunteers to sit at our preschool and childcare information booth to pass out prizes and brochures. We also need two more volunteers to help in the kitchen to serve a hot dog meal. Finally, we need five volunteers to help greet and be available where we might need some extra hands. Please contact Pastor Jen or call the church office if you are available to serve. The event is indoors 11am-2pm but we ask that you are here starting at 10:30am. If you can only do part of the time, that is okay too! This is a great opportunity to fulfill our JUMP (Jesus Uniting Mission and People) mission! We hope you'll bring the kids in your life to this event to have fun as well!

United Methodist Commission of the Way Forward The 2019 Special-Called General Conference will be held February 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. Conference representations from around the world will gather at The Dome, part of the America’s Center Convention Complex. The purpose of the General Conference will be to receive and act on a report from the Commission on A Way Forward based on the recommendations of the Council of Bishops. The 32-member Commission was authorized at the 2016 General Conference in Portland, Oregon and appointed by the Council of Bishops to examine paragraphs in The Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and exploring options to strengthen the unity of the church. On Sunday, February 17, we will have a session at 1pm to share information about this session and answer questions to the best of our ability. We will not be voting or debating. This is an informational session and a time to pray for the delegates and the United Methodist Church. I shared this video (https://youtu.be/hhz4xbEdXIE) presentation by retired Bishop Michael Coyner with our Church Council recently. They thought that the information was helpful. In about an hour, Bishop Mike gives an overview of how the UMC functions, the history of how we have arrived at this point, and a summary of the proposals being considered. You can view this video ahead of time if you like, but we will watch it together on February 17, respond to questions, and then pray for the General Conference.
